Catalonia Plaza Mayor

We had a great time staying at the Catalonia Plaza Mayor over the New Year period. The hotel itself is comfortable, clean and is furnished to a high standard. The staff are lovely and welcoming and very helpful. The breakfast on offer is excellent and we also enjoyed the New Year’s Eve dinner which the chefs altered to allow for specific dietary requirements without any fuss. We were well looked after and would certainly stay again.

I really loved the location, everything was close to the hotel. The room itself was very clean and comfortable. The shower was amazing and they provide all the cool stuff like a shower cap, a comb, q-tips, complimentary water and etc. We really appreciated that the hotel staff let us check-in 2,5 hours earlier as we’ve arrived from Barcelona at 12pm and needed to rest and refresh (they had our room ready and the hotel wasn’t full the night before). They also stored all of our baggage the next day before our flight. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, it was great!

We requested a quiet room, and our room on the 5th floor (European’ 4th) was very quiet. It was facing the hotel’s inner courtyard. The location is perfect. You can walk to the Cathedral, Royal Palace, Opera Theater, Plaza Mayor, San Miguel Market, Puerto del Sol, multiple restaurants, etc. The room has enough space and the bed is comfortable though slightly softer than we like. The bathroom is big. You will have enough space for your stuff. The shower is roomy. The shower handles are not underneath the shower heads (the rain head and the handheld one) so you will not get completely wet by turning a wrong handle. The hotel reception staff is fluent in English and ready to help. We arrived early and left our suitcases and backpacks until the check-in with no problems. They also will help you with suitcases. They ordered a taxi to the airport for us and taxi arrived in a few minutes.

Perfect location located a short distance by walk to the main station, the main museums, main plazas, main food outlets everything was easy to access by foot did not need to use taxis/public transport, room was very spacious, fridge and desk provided, double balcony was also great, slippers/robes/toiletries provided. Location was so fantastic we decided to extend our stay by 4 nights on their direct website
